Water...it can do so much at times, give us incredible shots while being harsh and wild or calm and relaxing. Personally, I love shooting scenes with water in them, you can do so much but most of the time I let it do the work for me. Oceans are my favorite because they are constantly changing but lakes can be fun too because you can get a reflection or like below, just provides a nice piece. Enjoy!

In the moment
You know, I never really understood the whole 'in the moment' aspect when it came to photography (or life) but on a road trip to Yellowstone I think I understood it.
| Bison and Old Faithful |
| Bison down by the River But maybe this is what they mean by 'in the moment'? These two Bison happen to just come along and create images I couldn't resist taking. Enjoy! |

The first Photo!
This is not the first photo I ever took...I don't think I even have that anywhere, it was probably when I was a kid and that was way way way before digital. But this is the first photo I am posting on here! Yay!
This is a picture of the upper part of Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. This is from 2009 during July 4th weekend and is the first time I got serious about taking photos after reading some material on how to take photos. Enjoy!

Welcome!
Hello!
This is a place meant to showcase some of the photos I have taken over the years, this is by no means a site done by a professional photographer, I am purely a hobby photographer with no formal training. I am doing this because this is a field I would like to get into in the future but for now this is something that I do for fun. I have always loved taking photos of anything really but mostly I love taking photos of nature, landscapes and cityscapes. Why this? You know, it really has to do with my love for the form of what is around us. I am a Geographer by training with a B.A. in Geography, so my love of Geography is shown primarily through the photos I take. It is a, for me, natural extension of the field of Geography, you can describe all you want about something, but to see it is to truly understand it. Photography is this outlet for me! I hope you enjoy what you see and if I haven't answered all your questions for you, the 'About Me' section hopefully answers more. If not, feel free to leave a comment or send me and email at yulaiphoto@gmail.com
Thanks,
YuLai
